Admin Tools
The internet is full of useful resources for network administrators. Here are a few sites I use often to resolve every day Network Administration issues.
This is a great website for checking DNS name resolution from outside your network and can be used to answer a wide range of questions about a domain name e.g. A records, CNAME records, MX records, SOA details etc.
Reverse lookup tests are useful when trying to diagnose email delivery issues. If the domain doesn’t have a correctly configured Reverse DNS record email will often be rejected by the receiving mail server.
Another useful website for checking for issues with MX records. Black list checks are very handy and can identify if your domain or external IP address is black listed.
This is a useful website for identifying port numbers and the services that use them.
The best place to go for the latest security advise for Microsoft products. Sign up to the mailing lists or RSS feeds and get the latest updates too. News on serious threats can be found here too.

Another great website for researching viruses and removal processes.
A useful website with an overview of common questions including a great overview of CISCO IOS, TCP/IP, firewalls and other network hardware.
A fantastic remote access tool. Great for getting access to an internet connected PC when providing remote support.
